DeviantArtist Questionnaire

Hi fellow DeviantArtist!

I was debating to myself, I really wanted to celebrate with you all the DeviantArt 15th Birthday! But I just posted my Tablet give-away journal yesterday... So I was like  .
 

But I give, I give! I couldn't resist after being tagged by JenFruzz now could I

1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?

Actually, I forgot my anniversary this year! it's the 1st of August and I just finished my 3rd year!   

2. What does your username mean?

  Pirate princess in Japanese! It's a tribute to One piece, it's that series that made me realize I wanted to become a professional artist and make people feel what I feel and see what I see when I enter an alternate universe (e.g read books, comic/manga, watch series/films listen to music watch people communicate etc etc!)

3. Describe yourself in three words.

uhm... spontaneous, passionate, analytic.

4. Are you left or right handed?

Right handed, I had a teacher once (A Dutch teacher even they have to write so much!) that grew up in a part where it was at that time still unaccepted to be left handed, so he was forced to write writh his right hand. His handwriting was horrible but according to him he couldn't go back to left either as he didn't get to develop that. (what a sad story actually!)

5. What was your first Deviation?

Gods I have no clue! I still have some oldies in there, I love to browse through major artists gallery in the hope to find their oldies and then compare where I am standing for myself technical wise. I want to become that for other aspiring artists one day as well so I am not ashamed anymore of my earlier works. Before I came to that conclusion though I deleted some of my first deviations! (I still have all my work on my hard drive though) it was probably some girl, or some anime screen cap practice. Not ashamed of that either because I used to focus on as realistic as possible when I was younger a I thought that was what it meant to become a great artist.

6. What is you favorite type of art to create?

Anything painting/drawing/animating! I enjoy both digital and traditional and enjoy so many different styles in those 2 media!

7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?

I find this a really tough question as I haven't mastered my current style. If I have to choose though I guess it would be camera handling, so I can film my own movies to use as refernce for my animating.

8. What was your first favourite?

I have loved and appreciated manga art from when I was little, I am rather serious about it and don't understand the negativity surrounding it as it has so many different subcategories. of course not all manga is great art! not all western paintings are great artworks either. I used to get still get so pissed off at people that are so short sighted that they can't accept the different cultural influences Japanese art and with that also manga has had. 

9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

this is to random! xD I enjoy so many art forms! I guess, fantasy related or nostalgic art, expressive brushwork, semi realism, also still manga inspired work. and lately also a lot of photography!

10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

Like I believe everyone else that filled in this questionnaire I have so many! I'll pick 4.

11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

Tough question again!   I guess it would be  as she lives in Holland also, and I could spend hours asking her a gazillion questions how to get your paperwork together as a freelancer! next to the other gazillion how to art questions

12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?

Haruka-rugi and visiteur2 have been rocking my comment center the last couple of months being a tremendous and so appreciated support! really thank you guys

13. What are your preferred tools to create art?

my non existing Cintiq, my wacom tablet, charcoal, copic markers, akashiya sai thinline brush pen, charcoal, watercolor paint, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, graphite pencils, and soft pastels.

14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?

that really depends on my mood! drawing from live is something I rarely do as I get super self-conscious, but it is very inspiring being outside and just draw what you see. However I work best in silence in my own home with my kitties and a cup of coffee or wine or tea depending on the time^^

15. What is your favorite DeviantArt memory

I have to pick getting a semi-finalist spot in the Artistic Journey Challenge with 

 Lets Celebrate DeviantArt's 15th birthday together by joining the  Celebrate DeviantArt's 15th Birthday!As DeviantArt enters its 15th year on the Internet, we want to take a moment before blowing out our candles to thank the community for allowing us the honor of hosting the site that you call your home for art. After all, it's the community's 15th birthday, too, and in the past few months, we've been making it our top priority to share with you our plans for the future, celebrate the successes of our past, and look to you for guidance on how best we can serve each of you while entering this new phase of DeviantArt's existence.
